YES I CAN

I did it! Oh serendipitous moment! I picked up my pencils and I drew. I flowed, I was passionate, I was in it, I did it. I finally did that first step. Just to pick up the damn pencil. HALLELUJAH.

I let myself explore for an hour and this is the result. I obviously still need a lot of work... wait, why did I say that? Why do I want to try and reign in my excitement and my triumph?? Why am I already wanting to hide back in my shell with fear? This is a huge step for me. I haven't let myself draw like this in... in years. I'm doing back flips inside my chest. I drew. I draw. No need to quiet this down.

There's just a need to crank it up.

I love your drawing. You did great! I have been wanting to start drawing again myself... I think I'll take that plunge soon too. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Congratulations!! She's stunning and you are stunning!

It's funny (and by funny I mean horrible) how we learn to lessen our thrill at what we have done in front of the other, that we become that scared to truly be oursleves...Could you imagine a child after an hour of loving involvement with the page being enthralled enough to share and show and say..."Of course, I know it's....."!

I'd say flow anyway that feels right with TAW, just keep coming back to it.

Here's the link to our week five check-in in case you haven't checked it out...evidently I looked back over week four too!

What a breakthrough. I am so happy for you! You deserve to honor yourself and celebrate!

The "secret" thing - it is a book blog that I am participating in that follows the book, "12 Secrets of Highly Creative Women" by Gail McMeekin. To be honest, I am not particularly thrilled with the book. Maybe because I am comparing it to TAW. It tells the story of some pretty amazing women artist's, but thus far hasn't given a ton of practical advice. That is what I love about TAW. She just isn't telling her story, promoting her philosophy. There are steps, exercises,m structure. I guess I needed that and continue to need it. You can check out the blog that is hosting the group. The address is http://tnc-12secrets.blogspot.com. Jamie Ridler, the hostess, is pretty darn fabulous and each week there is an interview with a "creative blogger" that I would recommend listening to. Tons of people are participating and I have made many new blogger friends there.
Oh and "Create '09" can be found at www.scrapgal.com. It is a fun challenge with weekly prompts. Obviously it's a scrapping site but you can choose any medium that tickles your fancy. The Nine in '09 was great because I really had to take time to make my intentions for the year clear and present them in a beautiful creative way. It was nice to devote my time to do it. I could see you using photographs for the prompts - unique, inspiring, and totally gorgeous.
And I just love Sister Julia. I found her when I started my TAW group and have maintained contact with her since. She is a kindred spirit. I'll send you some links to a couple of other sincere women that I met following the same online TAW group as her.
Congrats again on your drawing. It really is breathtaking.

I love it, I can look at it forever. There is so much emotion and atmosphere to the drawing. It's very good. I want to hang her in my room:)
